Applications - Elective Scholarship
Applications for the Medical Elective scholarship may be submitted from 1 June to 3rd September annually to jbjscholarship@gmail.com.
Before applying, please read the scholarship regulations, terms and conditions which can be downloaded from the regulations page.
Every application must be accompanied by:
a statement of the candidate’s proposed programme of study and the reason funding assistance is being requested, including where possible a rough breakdown of expenses or proposed use of funds.
the names of two people from whom written character references have been requested – the candidate shall arrange for such character references to be sent to jbjscholarship@gmail.com not later than 3rd September.
a Curriculum Vitae.
applications - special Scholarship
Applications for the special scholarship may be submitted at any time to jbjscholarship@gmail.com.
These applications will be reviewed by the Board of Trustees at the next Board meeting.
Every application must be accompanied by:
a statement of the candidate's proposed activity / project or financial need and a clear outline of the reason funding assistance is being requested. Where applicable, the candidate should include a description of how the proposed project/activity will benefit either the candidate themselves or the wider community.
a statement outlining any funding support from other sources already contributing to their project/activity.
a rough break down of costs or proposed plans for the funds.
the names of 2 persons from whom written character references have been requested - where applicable, at least one of these references should be related to the proposed project/activity. The candidate should arrange for these character references to be sent to jbjscholarship@gmail.com at the same time as the application.

selection
The Board of Trustees may interview candidates as it sees fit for both the elective and special scholarships and, except in exceptional circumstances, no candidate for the special scholarship shall be selected without such interview.
One or more scholarships may be awarded each year. Alternatively, the Board may decide not to award any scholarship for that year.
The decision of the Board of Trustees is final and no correspondence will be entered into following the selection meeting.
