The Medical Elective Scholarship

This scholarship is open to NZ medical students in the fifth or sixth year of study who wish to pursue medical elective training or experiences which broaden and enrich their academic classes, with an emphasis on electives which may have some or all of the following characteristics:

  • involve creative locations or subject area

  • are located in remote regions in the world

  • comprise unusual settings or situations

  • focus on under-served populations

  • have a rural or outdoor orientation

  • tackle unique or meritorious issues

  • fall outside of the well-trodden medical paths.

The scholarship awards are to be applied towards specific, tangible expenses (e.g. travel expenses) rather than general living costs.
